Bound Away
Bound away is a setting of two American river songs for an 8-part trombone choir. The piece was written for and premiered by the USM trombone choir, and Griffin Wilson conducted the premiere. The second of the two tunes is one of my favorite melodies, “Shenandoah.” The beautiful second half contrasts a rhythmic and spirited first half that travels through multiple time signatures and feels.
